***MEDIA ALERT*** Western Sydney demands a say in Drug Summit decision making

Following a round table discussion, representatives of diverse communities from across western and south-western Sydney will hold a press conference today to discuss the experiences and needs of the people they represent when it comes to drug policy in NSW. 

 

Ahead of the Sydney based drug summit in December, they want to raise awareness of:

 

 

-The consequences of shame and stigma for people who use drugs in their communities
-The need for more culturally appropriate services and treatment options to save lives
-The impact of over-policing and negative interactions with the criminal justice system. 

Alex Hogan, Social Justice Lead at Uniting NSW.ACT said: “Premier Minns needs to hear what our diverse, multicultural communities are seeing and hearing on the ground around drug use and what outcomes they want from the Drug Summit."
