La Trobe academics receive $11 million in NHMRC funding
La Trobe University researchers have secured more than $11 million in new Federal funding to support seven ground-breaking projects. The projects, funded through the NHMRC Ideas Grant program, include the use of a digital storytelling tool to co-create Australia’s first integrated digital health tool to prevent alcohol use during pregnancy among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians; research to improve post-menopausal therapy for women to preserve cognitive function; and identification of the genes associated with breast cancer brain metastasis. Underpayment Not Wage theft: Union called out
The Australian higher education sector has pushed back on unions claims about governance and employment practices. An analysis of the latest data from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) reveals that government funding for skills training continues to favour public TAFE colleges over independent Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). JCPAA publishes report of inquiry into Defence 2022-23 Major Projects Report
The Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit has published its report into the 2022-23 Major Projects Report. Chair of the Committee, Hon Linda Burney MP said, ‘Now in its sixteenth year, the Major Projects Report (MPR) continues to be an important tool for Defence accountability and transparency.
