RAPID RELIEF TEAM HELPING BRING CHEER TO THOUSANDS OF SPECIAL KIDS

Rapid Relief Team 2 mins read

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has served up more than 12,500 meals at Christmas parties for children in need across Australia this December, in their effort to support organisations like Variety, the Children’s Charity, this festive season.

Whether they are sizzling up thousands of sausages, serving morning tea or cooking hundreds of signature burgers, RRT volunteers are pleased to be part of these events.

“Working alongside charities like Variety and other organisations, we can help put a smile on the faces of some pretty amazing children during this time of year,” said RRT Operations Manager Mick Dunn.

“These kids might be living with serious illnesses, disabilities, or from disadvantaged households, and to see their faces lit up with joy at these events means so much.”

RRT volunteers have:

  • Served 3,000 meals to children and their families at the Variety Kids Xmas Party at Sydney Zoo, NSW.
  • Provided 1,500 meals at the Variety Kids Xmas Party at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, NSW.
  • Cooked 2,200 meals at the KidsWish Christmas Party at Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh, NSW.
  • Served 4,000 meals to children and their families and caregivers at the Variety Kids, Xmas Party at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Victoria.
  • Catered three separate Children in Care Christmas parties for about 300 children and 300 carers at Keith Maine Centre in Whiteman Park in Western Australia.
  • Served 1,330 meals for children with disabilities and complex needs at the Christmas Party Tasmania at Launceston Silverdome.

RRT has expanded to more than 14,500 volunteers since it was established as the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church in 2013 with the aim of assisting emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support.
