Investing in nurses to lead community education and care for people experiencing menopause and perimenopause
In its 2025-26Pre-Budget Submission, the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is calling on the Federal Government to fund measures to support nurses experiencing perimenopause and menopause. With women comprising 88 per cent of Australia's nursing workforce and approximately half of these nurses at an age where they may experienceperimenopause or menopause, ACN is advocating for targeted initiatives to address this critical but often overlooked health issue. TOMAGO CONCRETE RECYCLERS FINED $30,000 FOR EXCEEDING WASTE LIMITS
The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has fined Recycled Concrete Products Pty Ltd (RCP) $30,000 after it was found to have significantly exceeded its licensed waste limits. The facility, which recycles used concrete, bricks, and pavers into products such as road base, is located in Tomago near Newcastle and is licensed to process 30,000 tonnes of concrete waste per year. Shocking rise in rough sleeping sparks call for more funding
Homelessness NSW is calling for greater funding for homelessness services after new figures showed rough sleeping on the rise in Sydney. The City of Sydney’s February 2025 street count released today found 346 people sleeping rough in the inner city, a 24% increase from last year’s figure of 280. METROPOLITAN COLLIERIES TO PAY OVER $500,000 AFTER POLLUTING CREEK WITH COAL
Metropolitan Collieries Pty Ltd is set to pay more than half a million dollars after being prosecuted by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) over two incidents in September and October 2022 where water contaminated with coal fines and sediment discharged into Camp Gully Creek. The Creek flows into the Hacking River system and the Royal National Park in Sydney’s south.
