Monday 10 November 2025

Sydney, Australia: NextEd Group Limited (ASX: NXD), one of Australia’s leading tertiary education providers, today announced a collaboration with OpenAI to deploy ChatGPT Edu across its national network of vocational education (VET) colleges - the first rollout of its kind in Australia’s VET sector.

The collaboration reflects NextEd’s broader vision to build Australia’s most AI-enabled education ecosystem, connecting learners, educators and industry through applied, responsible AI. It also underscores the company’s growing role as a bridge between technology and human capability, helping people adapt to a workforce reshaped by artificial intelligence.

ChatGPT Edu is a secure, enterprise-grade version of ChatGPT, designed specifically for education institutions. Under the collaboration, NextEd will work directly with OpenAI’s education and adoption teams to introduce the technology to students and educators, develop new teaching and learning use cases, and measure the impact of generative AI on learning outcomes and institutional efficiency.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with OpenAI on this pioneering project,” said Mark Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer of NextEd Group Limited. “This is a practical opportunity to learn directly alongside OpenAI and ensure our students and educators are equipped to use AI responsibly and effectively.”

“We are not just adopting AI, we are helping define how it can be used safely and productively across education and industry.

“Together with OpenAI, we are seeing global demand surge for trusted and responsible AI solutions across education, workforce and government, including in Australia and across the APAC region.

“NextEd is committed to being at the forefront of meeting this exponential demand.”

Andy Brown, OpenAI’s Head of Go-To-Market for APAC, said: “Education is evolving rapidly, and the institutions that adopt AI early will shape its future. Our work with NextEd is part of OpenAI’s global effort to collaborate with forward-thinking education leaders who are redefining how people learn, teach and work in an AI-powered world.”

The collaboration strengthens NextEd’s long-term strategy to integrate advanced technology into teaching, operations and workforce preparation. Use cases being developed with OpenAI include student and educator assistance, curriculum development tools, and administrative automation - all designed to enhance capability, productivity and learning outcomes.

Building on this foundation, NextEd will launch AI literacy and corporate training programs in early 2026, helping Australian businesses, educators and organisations build the skills and confidence to use AI productively and responsibly at work.

These initiatives position NextEd among a small group of global education leaders working directly with OpenAI to advance AI literacy and responsible adoption at scale and mark a significant step forward for Australia’s vocational education sector.
