The Australian National Maritime Museum invites primary school students to celebrate Annual Humpback Day and learn all about the largest animal on the planet in a free webinar with Dr Vanessa Pirotta.
To celebrate the annual arrival of whales to Australian waters, this webinar will dive into the world of these magnificent marine mammals. From icy Antarctic waters to the tropics, students will learn amazing facts from the wonderful world of whales and discover how scientists like Vanessa and Dr Ben Arthur from CSIRO study whale biology, ecology and conservation.
Held on Wednesday 7 May, 2-3pm AEST, this webinar includes a Q&A session for students to ask all their biggest questions about whales and other marine animals.
Alicia De Audney, the Museum’s Digital Education Project Officer, has said, ‘The Museum is thrilled to be partnering with Dr Vanessa Pirotta and CSIRO to bring this exciting new initiative to life and provide a unique learning opportunity for students to engage directly with professionals and be inspired by them.’
Annual Humpback Day is a new education initiative presented by Dr Vanessa Pirotta, CSIRO and the Australian National Maritime Museum, which will be held annually on the first ‘hump day’ of May each year.
