THE HON MATT KEOGH MP

Minister for VETERANS’ AFFAIRS

MINISTER FOR DEFENCE PERSONNEL

MEDIA release

07 NOVEMBER 2023

visit TO THE UNITED KINGDOM for remembrance day

Tonight, I will travel to the United Kingdom to participate in Remembrance Day commemorations to honour the service and sacrifice of Australian and British personnel who have lost their lives in war, conflict and peacekeeping operations.

During my visit I will undertake a series of engagements with my UK Ministerial counterparts to share best practice strategies and learnings for supporting Defence personnel, veterans and families.

For more than a century Australia and the United Kingdom’s Defence personnel have stood shoulder to shoulder in the interests of peace and stability, our priority is looking after our veteran community as they both need, and deserve.

On Remembrance Day I’ll join Australian personnel engaged in the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of Operation Kudu to pay tribute to all those who have lost their lives in the service of our nation.

I will address the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at the Royal United Services Institute Conference on Commemorations and participate in Australian and British services of Remembrance.

While in the UK I’ll also meet with organisations that support veterans, including Haig Housing, the British Legion and London Legacy.
