BREAKFAST SERVED FOR CEO SLEEPOUT

Big bosses taking part in the annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout are being served a hot breakfast by Rapid Relief Team volunteers after their night on the street.

RRT Operations Manager Mick Dunn said volunteers are cooking up bacon and egg rolls and brewing barista coffee.

“The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a great event for a great cause, helping break the cycle of homelessness,” Mick said.

“We have to give credit to the big bosses who have spent the night sleeping rough to experience what is like being homeless and raise money to help those who needed it most. They’ve earned a hot breakfast and a strong coffee.

“Sleeping rough is an experience most of us are fortunate not to know but for those who do this event is an important opportunity to raise awareness and funds for things like homeless services, food vans and emergency support.

“The Rapid Relief Team is always ready support this great event and contribute to helping some of our most vulnerable.”

RRT is supporting CEO Sleepouts across the country including in Adelaide, Brisbane, Launceston, Hobart, Sunshine, Sydney and Young.

The Rapid Relief Team is the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.

Established in 2013, the RRT has more than 14,500 volunteers around the world who provide support to the community through charitable donations and events, as well as assisting emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support.

Four of the five species –Freshwater sawfish, Narrow sawfish, Dwarf sawfish and Green sawfish – are found in north Australian waters, but ‘proof of life’ is limited to isolated pockets in Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. During National Sawfish Sighting Week 2024 (26 October – 2 November), citizen scientists are needed to help spot these…
