Department of Veterans' Affairs < 1 mins read

THE HON MATT KEOGH MP

Minister for VETERANS’ AFFAIRS

MINISTER FOR DEFENCE PERSONNEL

MEDIA RELEASE

25 October 2024

remembrance day resources now available

This Remembrance Day, Australians will come together to honour all those who have served and sacrificed for our nation in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

As we mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and 25 years of Australian service in Timor-Leste, this Remembrance Day will be an opportunity to reflect on the courage of those who have served our nation half a world away, as well as those who have worked to keep the peace in our region.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs has released an online kitbag and commemorative pack, featuring everything you’ll need to undertake your own commemorative event.

The kitbag includes flag protocols, sample speeches, the Ode of Remembrance, activities for children, and even a Spotify playlist.

As we prepare to honour the 103,000 Australians that have made the ultimate sacrifice, I encourage everyone to make use of these free resources.

Schools, ex-service and community organisations have also received a commemorative pack containing posters, a new book Snapshots: Australians in war and conflict and interactive teaching materials.

The Remembrance Day kitbag, a digital version of the commemorative pack and other resources are available on the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Anzac Portal at anzacportal.dva.gov.au.
