As part of the Shaw and Partners WA Race Week 2024, Australia’s largest-ever Nipper Clinic will take place at Sorrento Beach, offering a rare opportunity for media to witness surf lifesaving’s rising stars being coached by world-class athletes. This marquee event brings together the excitement of youth training with the prestige of Race Week, creating powerful visuals and compelling stories.

WHAT:

The Shaw and Partners Race One Nipper Clinic is a highlight of the 11th Annual Shaw and Partners WA Race Week, an action-packed week featuring over 1,000 competitors, including Olympians, world champions, and Australia’s top surf lifesaving athletes. With a $240,000 prize pool, Race Week has become the premier event in Australian ocean racing, drawing international attention.

At the clinic, over 700 young surf lifesavers will learn directly from surf sports legends, such as:

  • Ali Day – 10-time Coolangatta Gold Ironman Champion
  • Lana Rogers – Three-time Australian Ironwoman Champion
  • Matt Bevilacqua – Ironman Champion and endurance specialist
  • Jemma Smith – 2024 Coolangatta Gold winner
  • Cory Hill – Three-time World Ocean Paddling Champion
  • Riley Fitzsimmons – Dual Olympian and 2024 Olympic Silver Medallist
    …and other elite athletes.

The Nipper Clinic represents the spirit of Race Week, combining elite competition with grassroots community engagement. This is a unique chance for media to:

ABOUT SHAW AND PARTNERS WA RACE WEEK:

From 23–30 November 2024, the Shaw and Partners WA Race Week features thrilling events like:

  • The Doctor: A 27km race from Rottnest Island to Sorrento Beach, the highlight of the week, with a $45,000 prize pool.
  • Fenn West Coast Downwinder: A 24km race kicking off the week.
  • Dash for Cash: A head-to-head sprint event on 29 November.
  • Twilight Paddleboard Dash: An exciting 2km sprint on 27 November, with a $15,000 prize pool.

Sorrento Beach will also host the Race Week Event Hub, offering live entertainment, social events, and family-friendly activities throughout the week.
