MEDIA RELEASE

NEW HUB STRENGTHENS SUPPORT TO VETERANS IN ROCKINGHAM

Today the Albanese Government can reveal the permanent location of Western Australia’s next Veterans’ and Families’ Hub, the “Goldsworthy Veteran and Families Centre” to be based in Rockingham.

The Hub will be located at 65 Dixon Road, Rockingham, with the current building to be refitted for veteran families to use as a community facility, as well as housing health, psychological and advocacy services.

This expansion of the Veterans’ and Families’ Hub network will see the more than 8,000 veterans and families be better able to access specialised support services close to home.

The region is also home to HMAS Stirling Royal Australian Navy base, which has over 4,100 employees.

RSL WA will continue to develop this Hub in consultation with the local community to ensure it will be a welcoming space that fosters a sense of community and focuses on improving the wellbeing and quality of life for veterans, families and current serving ADF members.

The Goldsworthy Veteran and Families Centre is expected to be up and running in 2026 and will be complemented by spokes at the Rockingham, Port Kennedy, Mandurah and Kwinana RSL Sub Branches.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Defence Personnel and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Keogh:

“It’s fantastic to see RSL WA taking the next steps in developing the Rockingham Veterans’ and Families Hub, aptly named the Goldsworthy Veterans’ and Families’ Centre after one of Australia’s most decorated naval officers.

“This new centre will bring together the already tight knit Navy community around Rockingham and HMAS Stirling as a one-stop shop for not only veteran services, but family supports as well."

Quotes attributable to Member for Brand, Madeleine King:

“Home to HMAS Stirling and one of the largest Defence communities in the nation, Rockingham and surrounding suburbs have always embraced the Royal Australian Navy, with Navy personnel and their families deeply integrated into our community.

“Too often, veterans are expected to navigate complex systems on their own once they leave the Australian Defence Force.

“Which is why I am really pleased to see the Albanese Labor Government progressing forward with the Goldsworthy Veterans’ and Families’ hub here in Rockingham.

“The hub will provide tailored support services and programs that meets the needs of veterans, their families and those currently serving. This is a practical investment in the people who have given so much to our country.”
