Kingdomcity Stands with the Nation in Grief and Prayer After Bondi Tragedy

MEDIA STATEMENT

Kingdomcity – Pastor Mark Varughese, Global Senior Leader.

The unprovoked evil tragedy that unfolded at Bondi have deeply affected Jewish communities across Australia and around the world as well as all peace loving people everywhere. On behalf of Kingdomcity, I extend our deepest compassion, prayers and solidarity with the victims, their families and all those touched by this senseless act of violence.

Our hearts go out to those who are grieving, traumatised or searching for comfort in this painful time. We share in the sorrow of a community that has lost loved ones and been shaken by violence that should never occur in our streets, our homes, or anywhere in our world.

We want to be unambiguous in our response: violence born of hatred has no place in human society. Any act that seeks to harm, dehumanise or terrorise another person or community stands in opposition to the dignity and worth of every human life.

We also wish to state clearly and unequivocally that antisemitism — and all forms of racial, ethnic and religious hatred — have no place in Australia, in our churches, or anywhere in the world. Kingdomcity stands firmly against antisemitism and all expressions of bigotry and prejudice, and we join with communities of faith and goodwill in rejecting hatred in every form.

We are committed to advancing love, peace and reconciliation across every culture and community we have the privilege to serve.

This Sunday, across all of our services in Australia, Kingdomcity will be praying — honouring the victims, lifting up their families and loved ones, and seeking God’s comfort, healing and peace for all those affected.

We also pray for strength and wisdom for first responders and community leaders, and for a renewed resolve in every heart to choose compassion over division, unity over hatred, and love over fear.

In moments such as these, it is vital that people of faith and goodwill stand together in solidarity, in prayer, and in the pursuit of peace.
