Alice Springs & Ayers Rock: TIME TO DECIDE TO FLY SAFELY

Civil Aviation Safety Authority < 1 min read

Making the right calls when flying is critical and poor decision-making continues to be a leading cause of aircraft accidents worldwide.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is targeting decision-making in its latest aviation safety seminar to help pilots make the right call at the right time for a safer flight.

Aviation safety advisor, Tim Penney, says the free seminars explore how humans make decisions, as well as key considerations pre-flight and in-flight.

‘When flying, a pilot makes decisions in every action before and during a flight, including pre-flight planning and go/no-go decisions,’ Tim says.

‘Different types of decision-making have different impacts in the cockpit, plus there are a range of factors that affect a pilot’s thinking and actions.’

‘At the end of an informative session, you’ll get practical tips to improve your decision-making skills and be safer every time you fly.’

A Bureau of Meteorology forecaster will be a special guest at the session to present on forecasting and local weather conditions and to answer any questions.

Each year, CASA’s aviation safety advisors host free seminars across Australia to help pilots refresh their skills, enhance their knowledge, and improve flight safety.

Everyone is welcome, from novices to experienced pilots, and refreshments are provided. Book your spot online for the Alice Springs seminar, and the Ayers Rock seminar.
