Statement on the arrest of 20-year-old man on terrorism charges

We’re at a beautiful intersection when Ramadan, Lent and Lunar New Year are being observed at the same time. I walked down Murray Street Mall just yesterday and the vibes were amazing. 


Sadly, this time of celebration has been dampened by the news of another white supremacist being arrested in Western Australia.


I learned of this development through the media while attending prayers at my local mosque during Ramadan yesterday evening. 


I love WA, and I believe that this man isn’t representative of the place that I love and will soon raise my daughter in. 


Hope will overcome hate.

Senate Committee gives green light to registered nurse prescribing reform

The Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee has recommended the passage of the Health Legislation Amendment (Prescribing of Pharmaceutical Benefits) Bill 2025, paving the way for designated registered nurses to prescribe medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) from July 2026. The Australian College of Nursing welcomes the Committee’s unanimous recommendation to pass the bill, after a comprehensive inquiry that received 47 submissions from nursing organisations, medical associations, state governments, consumer groups, and individuals.
