East Coast powers record $100m+ year for downsizers

28 August 2026 Downsizer contributions topped $100 million for the first time in the 2026 financial year for HESTA members, with a surge in Australia’s two largest housing markets. The Fund can reveal today that downsizer contributions jumped to $109.6 million in FY26, a 25% jump on the previous year’s record of $87.6m. Call for consultation on higher Ed reforms

The Australian Higher Education Association (AHEIA) has asked Victoria’s Minister responsible for universities for consultation before implementation of recommendations arising from a recent state parliamentary inquiry. The Legislative Assembly Economy and Infrastructure Committee released a report into university governance in late July. It contained 37 findings and 17 recommendations. AHEIA wants consultation before implementation of any or all of the recommendations are accepted.
