Injury adds extra hurdles for inactive women in social sport
Injury or pain affectsparticipation for one in five physically inactive women taking part in social sport, with those from a lower-income household more likely to be injury-affected, new research from La Trobe University shows. Researchers surveyed more than 1330 physically inactive women who had participated in social sport programs across Victoria. Among women affected by injury, the knee (39 per cent), lower back (30 per cent) and ankle (25 per cent) were the most commoncomplaints. The Climate Council welcomes comments today from Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen that data centres will be powered by renewable energy, and that there will be no “carve-outs” for some jurisdictions – contradicting claims from the Northern Territory and Queensland governments.
