Record attendance marks opening of ANZGOG’s 26th Annual Scientific Meeting

The Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG) today welcomes a record number of delegates to its 26th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), reflecting the strength, scale and increasing momentum of the gynaecological cancer research community across Australia, New Zealand and internationally. 

With close to 400 registrations, the 2026 ASM is the largest in ANZGOG’s history. The meeting brings together clinicians, researchers, nurses, allied health professionals and community advocates, united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes of gynaecological cancers. 

The record attendance reflects both the urgency of the challenges facing the sector and the increasing collaboration required to address them, particularly as demand grows for more effective treatments, earlier detection and improved survivorship outcomes. 

Delivered under the theme On the Edge: Translating Innovation into Action, the 2026 ASM centres on how emerging science and innovation can be translated into meaningful, real-world improvements for people with gynaecological cancer. The program reflects a critical point in the sector, where advances in research, clinical practice and technology must be more rapidly integrated into patient care to drive better outcomes. 

This year’s ASM features a distinguished line-up of both local and international speakers, providing perspectives on the latest advances in gynaecological cancer research and treatment. Their participation supports knowledge exchange, strengthens international collaboration and ensures Australian and New Zealand research remains aligned with global best practice.  

Featured international speakers include: 

• Professor Woo Yin Ling: Gynaecological Oncologist | University of Malaya, Malaysia 
  Professor Woo is widely recognised for her leadership in cervical cancer prevention and women’s health, with a strong focus on community-informed and equitable care. She has contributed to global screening and elimination strategies through advisory roles with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO). 

• Dr Kathleen Moore: Associate Director of Clinical Research | Stephenson Cancer Center, USA 
  Dr Moore is an internationally respected clinical trials leader who has led practice-changing studies in ovarian and endometrial cancer. Her keynote will explore innovation in drug development and early-phase trials, and the implications for future care. 

• Dr William Small Jr.: Chair of Radiation Oncology | Loyola University Chicago, USA 
  Dr Small brings more than 30 years’ experience as a leading authority in radiation oncology and multidisciplinary cancer care, with deep expertise in translational research and integrated treatment approaches. 

ANZGOG acknowledges the leadership and contribution of the 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting Program Steering Committee, led by ASM Chair Associate Professor Emma Allanson and Deputy Chair Associate Professor Kate Webber. 

The Committee has played a critical role in shaping a high-quality, multidisciplinary program that reflects the depth and diversity of the gynaecological cancer research community.
