Coles is gearing up for its biggest floral event of the year, with nearly 900,000 flowers and floral gifts to be sold in the lead-up to Mother’s Day. As we celebrate Mums across Australia, customers can find great value gifts, drinks and easy meal solutions to the turn the day into an occasion.
New Coles research shows spending time with family is the number one-way Coles customers plan to celebrate Mum this year (58%), followed by giving flowers (14%) and sharing a special meal (11%)[1].
To make celebrating simple, Coles has curated a range of affordable options for every occasion, from breakfast in bed to a long lunch or relaxed dinner at home, helping families spend less time in the kitchen and more time with Mum.
Coles Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer, Anna Croft, said Coles is focused on making Mother’s Day easier for customers, with great value and everything they need to celebrate Mum.
“We know customers are looking for great value and convenience, which is why we’ve created a range that brings everything together, from flowers and chocolates to easy meals and drinks,” Anna said.
“It means customers can pick up everything they need in one shop and give Mum a celebration that feels special.”
With 45% of customers expecting partners or kids to take on the cooking, Coles is making Mother’s Day entertaining simple with the Made Easy Sweet & Savoury Roasting Box 1.9kg ($35 per pack, approx. $8.75 per serve). Serving four, the ready to heat meal includes slow cooked roast beef crusted in garlic, roast potatoes, gravy and mini choc brownies, and can be enjoyed as is or paired with Mum’s favourite sides. Available for a limited time only.
Flowers to spoil Mum
Flowers remain the most popular Mother’s Day gift, with Coles expecting to sell more than 900,000 flowers and floral gifts in the lead-up, making it the biggest flower event of the year.
Coles is keeping Mother’s Day flowers affordable for customers, with the Smith Street Flowers range holding the same great prices as last year. Options starting from just $15, including the Pocket Money Posey, a great choice for kids who have saved up to treat Mum. Customers can also choose from classic Rose Bouquets for $25, alongside the Mother’s Day exclusive Beautiful Bouquet for $30, which features a soft mix of roses, chrysanthemums and seasonal greenery.
Smith Street Flowers Head Florist Lynne Dallas said flowers remain one of the easiest and most meaningful ways to celebrate Mother’s Day, with a wide range of styles and price points available.
“We’ve developed a range that has something for every Mum, from classic roses and chrysanthemums to more modern, seasonal bouquets, so there’s a style to suit every taste and budget,”
“We’re seeing more people keep it simple this year, choosing great value bouquets and adding their own personal touch at home.”
“My tip is to choose flowers that reflect her personality and elevate them with a few simple touches, whether that’s a handwritten note or styling them in her favourite vase.”
With the only gift better than flowers being flowers and wine, Coles and Liquorland have teamed up to make gifting easy, offering customers who spend $30 or more in store on Smith Street flowers 15% off wine and Champagne at Liquorland stores when they scan their Flybuys card between 8th and 10th May[2].
